Drobe Launchpad today opened a new headlines section on the drobe.co.uk front page - a section devoted to articles on alternative operating systems for Acorn hardware and other related ARM based hardware.
That means any interesting news and information on OSes like ARM Linux and NetBSD that run on familiar hardware. The new alternative OS section is aimed at users who have spare hardware and want to experiment with other OSes and users who have a specific need to run an alternative OS on their ARM hardware.
We won't be covering general Linux or BSD news as there's zillions of news outlets already established for that. Plus, we'll be too busy covering news and issues in the RISC OS world.
Whilst we strive to update the RISC OS news section every day, we're aiming to update the alternative OS section every so often each month. Please, feel free to send us news, articles or offers to maintain this new Drobe Launchpad section.
This new section won't be for everyone but we hope some of you find it useful.

Why is this section hidden away at the bottom of the page??

Sections that are updated often are at the top (ie: ROS stuff). Also, this section should be kept separate from ROS stuff.

Don't want the herd from all "doing an Alpha" do we now? |

Not quite. People read Drobe primarily for RISC OS news. Not everyone wants stuff about Linux and BSD. However some people, like the Drobe editors and others, run ARM Linux for their daily work. It's just an interesting sideline.
Hm, and I thought I was the cynical one

As ever, just thought I'd stick my oar in without a great deal to say...
But thanks for putting this on the site, whilst I still need latest RISC OS news for personal/business reasons, I've always been interested in other options like to try 'em out from pure curiosity - and now I don't have to wade through masses of postings on sites related to these OSs
Cheers,
