AcornEvolution editor not lostBy Chris Williams. Published: 7th Apr 2004, 18:05:21 | Permalink | Printable
And he needs your helpMedia Watch It appears a number of RISC OS users have begun wondering exactly what has happened to AcornEvolution and its editor, Gavin Smith. We can confirm today that he is alive and well, unlike his news website which hasn't seen an update in over two months.
Agreeing with the concerns of our readers, we pestered contacts and eventually tracked down Gavin's phone number and gave him a call: Gavin explained that when he returned from his week or so holiday in February, he became ill for another three weeks. During this time, his news site hadn't published any new articles and Gavin was reluctant to return to the forefront of the online RISC OS media after such a sudden disappearance.
One worried reader told us earlier this week: "Either everyone's as clueless as we are, or there's some kind of conspiracy. I emailed [Gavin] a couple of times a few weeks ago to no response. It's most unusual that he's just disappeared like this. I do hope there wasn't accident while on holiday or something."
"I know Gavin has returned from his holiday a couple of days ago," wrote another AcornEvolution reader in February. "He did post to say he was off to Gran Caneria, so I guess he has a lot of things to catch up with in the real world now he's back, and I would hope to see some of the new news up here pretty soon, along with whatever developments are ongoing! I think it would be a total waste to have had Acorn Evolution going for just a month and stop."
AcornEvolution launched, much to everyone's surprise, at the start of this year. Gavin's also looking for anyone who could possibly take over the running of the site, so contact him (if you can) if you're interested.
