Nettle, accounting and more - plus no tabloid editing, promiseThe definitive terminal emulator Nettle is up to version 0.2042r, with German messages and other updates. Ian Jeffray, one of the Nettle developers, explained: "The main purpose of this release is to improve the detection of Internet pollword capabilities, which meant that the previous release (0.2040r) did not perform 'out of the box' so well on an Iyonix."
Jan-Jaap van der Geer has released DirSync 1.08, an application that allows you to visually inspect the differences between two directories of files. The new version features improvements to the GUI, the timezone setting handling and also various bugfixes.
Isn't it irritating when annoying skr1ptk1dd13z or other l4m3rz (if you can't read that, you've clearly only been on the 'net for less than 6 months and can skip this paragraph) try to be cool BY TYPING IN CAPS - HEY LOOK MUM IM ON DROBE LOLOLOL????11~!?!! Yes, it's not cool and it's certainly idiotic. You certainly don't want to be caught typing in caps even if it was an accident, just think how your online reputation will take a nose dive if you send off that email to the Boss saying, "ALrIGHT, IM rEADY TO UPGRADE TEH NWE sERVER LOLOl". Luckily, Dan Ellis has released StopCaps, a module which will prevent your caplocks key from enabling unless you hold down the alt key at the same time. Thankfully Dan's written some more useful software, including his AppFS-DAFS-ModFS-VarFS package. HAHA I LIEK APPFS, ITS ACE.
Image catalogue and HTML gallery producing Thumbcat has been updated with changes made to the software's GUI and and file handling. While we struggle to think of a decent and obligatory "Talented Mr. Ripley" pun, Thumbcat author Malcolm Ripley has also released a new version of MakeAlias, an app that makes MS Windows style application shortcuts. Finance and accounts should hopefully fail to get your heart racing, but still EnVision continue to improve EnBank, their multi-currency accounts package for RISC OS. Version 3.00 includes a load of new features and updates too numerous to list here so be sure to check the website.
And so on
Finally, NoughtPointOne's iconbar.com is merrily back online, along with its satellite websites. Although hardware failure plagued webmaster Rich Goodwin gushed, "Sorry for the downtime, I'll try not to let it happen again", one developer previously hosted on NoughtPointOne has since switched to a new web host. Also, if anyone has had problems or success with the recently introduced key registration system for Vantage, do get in touch. And, Archive magazine is attempting to gauge the number of shipped Iyonixes, so if you have an Iyonix, email their Editor your machine's serial number.
