Doggysoft source code released: Behind the scenes at the famous software group

By Chris Williams. Published: 16th Nov 22:15:18 | Permalink | Printable

Following an announcement made on usenet, Joseph Heenan has made the source code to several Doggysoft programs available for free. For those you don't know, Doggysoft were once a legendary RISC OS software developing group. As well as developing the Termite internet package, they were responsible for virus checkers, game hackers, programming aids and the odd desktop silly.
As of late the group have faded away so this release of source code is very welcome, hopefully allowing the latest wave of RISC OS coders to join and create new software. Joseph has stressed the code is still ©Doggysoft Ltd. and distribution is limited until further permission has been sought.

The three sources available initially are:

vend.spk
Vend.spk is a sparkive containing the source code to VEnd, a virus scanner and behaviour blocker.
wxii.zip
wxii.zip is a zip file containing the source code to WimpExtension II, the successor to WimpExtension. It was never released, but is essentially complete, and was used in Termite.
syslog.zip
syslog.zip is a zip file containing the source code to the SysLog module.

If anyone finds a use for these or you have written software for public release, please get in touch..
