Expo 2004 show approaches

Fun in The Netherlands

The Big Ben Club have kindly reminded us that the RISC OS Expo 2004 is fast approaching. The top annual RISC OS European mainland event is to be held in The Netherlands, on Saturday June 19th.

The show itself attracts dealers, developers and users from countries including Holland, Belgium, Germany and the UK. Sponsored by Desk, X-Ample, Castle, RISCOS Ltd. and MicroDigital, the show will also feature presentations by Castle and RISCOS Ltd. Last year's show was certainly an eye opening event, where MicroDigital illustrated that surely all publicity is good publicity.

For those travelling to the event, the opening times have been adjusted slightly, as show organiser Aad Bezemer told us that the opening hour has been moved from 10am to 11am. Apparently, for previous years, the organisers were allowed to set up the show during the Friday evening before the show, however the conference hall is in use on Friday for this particular year, which the organisers did not anticipate.

"Nevertheless we expect to have a really good show. The number of participants is bigger than ever. We are very happy to welcome a lot of well-know names from Britain - an excellent opportunity for our Dutch, German, Belgian and maybe again some French visitors to ask questions and otherwise have a chat with manufacturers and developers in person," Aad commented to us.

"As for a number of years the show is sponsored by the Dutch dealers Desk (our main sponsor) and X-Ample Technology, and by RISCOS Ltd, MicroDigital and Castle. This support gives our Big Ben Club the opportunity to organise the show, as for every year, again at the Mercure Hotel, a really first class location at the centre of the Netherlands. It is interesting to note that at the Expo both the Omega (Desk/MicroDigital Europe) and the Iyonix (X-Ample Technology/Castle) will be demonstrated."

Our sources also tell us that at this year's show, a number of Omegas and ethernet cards will be delivered to patiently waiting users, quite possibly echoing last year's public display of the first 'shipping' Omegas.

Was a really good show in the last two years and I'll thus go there this year again. My thanks to Big Ben Club for running this show and attracting so many UK based companies so that we do have a chance for the odd chat on the Continent.

Perhaps Drobe users could wear name badges - it would be nice to put names to faces / knees to testicles :-), depending upon how you feel.

I'd love to go this year (my uni exams finished early and I'd like a day out in Europe), but I'm otherwise engaged on the 19th with media types. Although, peter@drobe will be there, for the UPP.

Chris. Just me.
