Messenger Pro wishlist survey

By Chris Williams. Published: 7th Jul 2004, 23:33:17 | Permalink | Printable

Email just as you like it

Screenshot of the surveyWhilst work continues on Messenger Pro 3, Adam Richardson has released an application to survey users for future Messenger Pro features. Messenger Pro is a popular news and email client for RISC OS, that also boasts a Windows and Linux port.

Adam also maintains a Messenger Pro wishlist and bugs website, which was referred to previously by Messenger developer Mark Sawle. Suggested features listed range from 'keeping it clean and simple' to 'displaying HTML emails' - top marks for controversy, there.

Instructions for the survey are fairly simple: download the program, fill in the tables to vote on your favourite feature, generate a report file and email it back to Adam, who will eventually publish the results online.

Even if you're not a Messenger Pro 3 user, it'll be an interesting exercise to see what RISC OS users currently want from their email clients. The survey application is currently sending us on a misty eyed nostalgia trip, back to the old days when Acorn User would annually stick their user survey application on a cover disc. Perhaps another similar general survey would be useful for the platform, right about now.

Great idea using the survey for it's user comments and feedback. I do not have MessengerPro but considering it when it releases number 3. I use the free web email "mail.com" service, will MessengerPro3 automatically search my web email provider and tell me that I have mail on RISC OS even if I have not logged on to Oregano2 (but my computer is always on line and ready for O2)??? Cheers, Steve.

JGZimmerle: Using email is very new to me and I don't really know technically what features makes it work. So if I have a look at the "mail.com" site features, and if it says it offers POP3 or IMAP access to my mailbox, then MessengerPro should be O.K. ?? Thanks for the tip! Regards, Steve.
