Cambridge talk

Acorn logoTheo Markettos noted today on usenet that there's a talk tommorow (7th October) in Cambridge by ex-Acorn Chief Engineer, Chris Turner about the history of Acorn. Chris was one of the original founders of Acorn, and he will be using his own archives to help illustrate his talk.

Somewhat fitting given that Cambridge was the traditional homeland of Acorn, the talk takes place at Cambridge University Engineering Department at 7pm. Further details on the Cambridge IEE website events page.

If only I lived near Cambridge :S I'd really like to know the whole story of what happened. I've heard/read so many different versions!

I would have loved to attend this meeting. Well spotted Theo!

I do hope one of us will attend, perhaps with a digital camera? There must be a wealth of material being presented here.

It strikes me as odd that Chris Turner did not bring this meeting to Drobe's attention for our sake. Yes please, if someone will write a report to look forward (or backward) to, many of us cannot travel overseas to Cambridge just for a meeting.

Revin: perhaps. What I do look forward is a post from yourself or Sawadee that is more than empty platitudes ;-)

Saw: I can't make any sense of this - if you read the item, Chris Turner had no hand in bringing it to drobe's attention.

Wouldn't that be the ultimate insult, making it available in some streaming technology that is not available under RISC OS.
