riscos.org.uk URLs for software writers and user groups: Michael Stubbs explains all

By Chris Williams. Published: 6th Dec 23:36:24 | Permalink | Printable

In an attempt to unite the RISC OS freeware scene, Michael Stubbs has recently launched a service to provide free riscos.org.uk URLs to software writers seeking memorable web addresses. Now in addition to that, Michael has allowed RISC OS user groups to apply for riscos.org.uk sub-domains.

"A long term aim is that every well known freeware/PD software application can be found by guessing www.appname.riscos.org.uk", Michael explained to Drobe.co.uk. "This will benefit the platform as a whole and make it easier to find the software you want. If people are willing to organise shows, run user groups and write software, I am willing to throw free URLs around."
The riscos.org.uk subdomains are moderated and setup by Mr. Stubbs so that he can make sure they are used for their intended purposes. Michael has also informed Drobe that this is the first in a series of services for the RISC OS community, all of which will be announced here when ready.
