Slim toolsprites for RISC OS 4

By Chris Williams. Published: 20th Dec 11:03:16 | Permalink | Printable

User customisation is a great thing. Windows, icons, pointers, screensavers- nothing is safe. This week some ultra slim toolsprites were updated and released for RISC OS 4 by Toby Bryans. Toolsprites are the little square icons around the sides of RISC OS windows which control the size and position of the window. Users can freely design their own or adapt the default design.

SmallTools were originally designed by Neil Spelling and Toby has added the iconise, close and toggle size icons required by RISC OS 4.

"I have used them for a long time because I appreciate maximum screenspace to be dedicated to window contents, but I also like the RISC OS style", Toby explains. Strangely enough, the original designer was contacted but no reply was receieved for over a week, so Toby decided to release the toolsprites anyway.

Also available from the SmallTools website is a non-obtrusive floating clock that hides patiently in the top corner of the desktop. It pops up when needed and it can deal with screen mode and general desktop changes. It was first developed in BASIC before Toby moved into C programming.
The Floating clock is RISC OS 4 compatible and, as Toby comments, "Floating Clock fills a niche for me in the RISC OS clock market".
