CJE seeks interest in A9homeBy Chris Williams. Published: 2nd Sep 2005, 14:40:42 | Permalink | Printable
Not taking orders, not talking delivery datesSavvy punters who wish to be kept up to date on the progress of the A9home would do well to drop CJE Micros an email. The official distributor and end user support provider of the ARM9 powered computer has said that users can email them to register an interest in the AdvantageSix built product.
"As you may know, a quantity [of A9homes] have been released to developers who I understand have given very positive feedback. There are, however, one or two areas that still need finishing, so Advantage Six are being cautious and saying it will be ready when it is ready," said CJE's Chris Evans, sounding more upbeat than ever before about the 400MHz Samsung S3C2440 powered machine - although it can't have been too dificult to beat his previously demure and modest outlook.
Chris added that "with no firm release date, we do not think we should be taking orders yet." Those who email in will be notified first when the RISC OS dealer does decide to start taking orders. To register your interest, drop a suitable email to sales at cjemicros dot co dot uk.
We also understand that the well known cobalt blue, aircraft-black-box industrial design of the A9home case could just be for developers only. The final product could well sport a more aesthetic case and user friendly specification. Meanwhile, software programmers who signed up (and forked out the cash) for the A9home developer scheme have been receiving various OS patches as work continues on the device.
