Manage your favourite FTPc sites with FTPcEdit By Chris Williams. Published: 6th Jan 19:46:48 | Permalink | Printable When you need to upload files to your website or maybe fetch files from the big file libraries, known as ftp sites, a common application many RISC OS users turn to is FTPc. FTPc is a straight forward ftp application, however the user menu -which allows easy access to comonly used sites- can sometimes be a bit tricky as they have to be configured by hand.
Therefore, Patrick Mortara has released FTPcEdit, which is designed to be an editor of FTPc menus.
- FTPcEdit will automatically spring into action if you click on 'Edit...' in the !FTPc (V1.30 or later) user menu.
- You can easily setup login information, proxys, site commands and so on, without knowing how a user_menu file has to look like.
"I wrote FTPcEdit because I always thought !FTPc is lacking a way to comfortably edit the user menu, and an editor for it shouln't be very complicated", explained Patrick. To create FTPcEdit, the author used text editor StrongED and !TemplED for designing the user interface.
Patrick is currently devoting much of his time to RiscSearch, which is a useful internet tool that can search the web for you. After giving RiscSearch a usual phrase to find, like "Car Clipart", the query will be sent to 10 internet search-engines at once. RiscSearch will then return any matches, avoiding the need of going to individual websites and also avoiding the assult of adverds and banners.
