Solitaire makeover: Puzzle game bought into 2001

By Chris Williams. Published: 6th Jan 20:16:16 | Permalink | Printable

Good old Solitaire. Classic puzzle game and today Ian Macfarlane has decided to treat the desktop favourite to a makeover. In a usenet posting by Ian, the author announced Solitaire 7.14 now features..

  • Customized display: five different veneers including three backdrops and another sprite set. If you don't like them, you can easily add your own.
  • A dialogue box now takes the place of the main menu.
  • Deep sprites may be used.
  • Help files are now in HTML as well as text form

Requiring RISC OS 3.6 and according to Ian, "Solitaire recreates the original 'board' game, where the balls must be cleared one at a time, by being hopped over as in draughts. The aim is to be left with only one ball, which must be in the centre hole.
"An additional similar game, Colotaire, is included which helps younger children to reach the solution more easily." I know which one I'll be downloading :)
