Midlands show dropped from calendarBy Chris Williams. Published: 25th Oct 2005, 01:56:20 | Permalink | Printable
Sobering news following success at GuildfordThe ARM Club have confirmed that there will not be a RISC OS show in the Midlands this year. The event usually takes place around the end of November at the National Motorcycle Museum, located on the outskirts of Coventry and Birmingham. News of the cancellation comes as blow to users unable to make it to recent RISC OS events.
ARM Club committee member David Ruck said: "The decreasing number of exhibitors willing to attend the event means it is no longer possible to cover the cost of hiring the venue, which does not have any smaller rooms available."
He added: "We feel that a show at an alternative and much smaller venue, coming so soon after Guildford in the calendar, would not be in the interest of the exhibitors or visitors. The market would be better served by concentrating on the three larger shows at Wakefield, the South East and South West."
The Midlands show has been through a number of ups and downs, from the official public launch of the Castle Iyonix in 2002 to a devastating fire in 2003. Dealers and developers are now said go be gearing up for the RISC OS South West show, scheduled for February next year.
Several regular show exhibitors, including Icon Technology and MW Software, were said to be delighted by the success of the recent South East show, in Guildford.
