Christmas tracker music reborn in MP3

O' little tracker of Bethlehem

Some Christmas decorationsWarming the cockles of the hearts of Acorn tracker fans, the famous - or infamous depending on your opinion - Powercarols have been converted to MP3 format this Christmas. Now retro-music addicts can hum along and play the air keyboard to these 1994 era digital tunes on their iPods during their daily commute to work, or just belt them out on a hifi to irritate the surrounding neighbourhood.

Written by James Coates over a decade ago and brought to MP3 format by Alex Macfarlane-Smith, the two tracks feature remixed festive songs and carols with typical tracker panache, a style otherwise known as 'cheese' or 'pre-1999 dance'.

Alex said, "All the cool people listen to tracker music, as opposed to actual real songs."

Great stuff! What about the original Powercarols too? I spent a while getting some of these playing on my Iyonix last year, with the help of Aemulor Pro.

lol wow, i remember these!

Yearly I used Digital Symphony to play them :), with a simple BASIC screenload loop to change between 4 Artworks'd shots of a chirstmas tree and lights. A new design every year!

Those were the days!

I even had my SA playing them at uni 3 years ago, kept the flat festive enough!

Is it just me, or is the first carols track good and the second one dreadful? Perhaps I was listening to it with a flea in my ear. Bah. Humbug!

In reply to thesnark: You are right, the second one has way over too much BASS in it, awfull. The first one is pretty good for listening.
