New site risc-os.de to spread word of ROSBy Chris Williams. Published: 3rd Apr 2006, 01:38:01 | Permalink | Printable
Someone tell CTL and ROL it's this easyA new website to introduce RISC OS to German speaking people has launched this week. Created by Carlos Michael Santillan of the online news service Arcsite, the goal of risc-os.de is to describe to mainly European computer users the benefits of RISC OS.
At the moment, the site offers a concise description of the desktop and how the basics of the user interface work; an introduction into how the system fits together internally; native computer systems available for RISC OS; and an illustrated explanation of the 26 and 32 bit issue.
The website reads: "Anyone who plans to buy a RISC OS computer must decide which of the many available computers is most appropriate for them. Therefore here is a short description of the recommended computers. RISC OS, contrary to other platforms, has no large requirements in terms of processor and memory usage, and an old model may be still appropriate."
Calling for help and feedback, Carlos said: "I'm searching for screenshots of every RISC OS version for risc-os.de. Please send the Sprite file to screenshot [at] arcsite [dot] de. If you send me a screenshot, tell me about the RISC OS version and any programs pictured."
Fancy making an English version?
PS: arcsite.de had an amusing April Fools; the site changed to a 'Zero Euro Homepage', with adverts for just about every RISC OS organisation for free in a send up of similar non-free attempts.
