Bug causes X-Ample to avoid Wakefield By Chris Williams. Published: 10th May 2006, 17:55:51 | Permalink | PrintableSpace reserved for meeting punters' area Dutch outfit X-Ample have pulled out of this weekend's Wakefield 2006 event after developing a different kind of bug. Their representative Marc Simons is reportedly too sick to attend, and has bowed out of the show. Many visitors were expected to use the opportunity to meet X-Ample to learn the fate of the 32 bit compatible Impression. Hyped up in 2003, it had yet to appear some 12 months later - and there is no sign of it even now.
X-Ample agreed to take over the DTP package from Computer Concepts, and produce a version suitable for modern RISC OS machines. We gather X-Ample are too busy on other projects to finish the complicated task of 32 bitting Impression.
Wakefield organiser Chris Hughes said: "Due to illness, X-Ample have decided thay have no option but to withdraw from attending this year's show, this coming Saturday.
"X-Ample's Paul Reuvers sends his apologies to all those show-goers hoping to visit their stand. We wish Marc a speedy recovery from his illness and hope we will see them next year."
• Wakefield organisers now hope to use the spare stand reserved for X-Ample as a meeting area for punters - such as those traveling from user groups.
Chris Hughes said: "After a number of requests we have decided to have a small meeting area setup at the show, so visitors can arrange to meet up.
"The exact location of this is not yet finalised but may be in the former X-Ample stand area, otherwise it will be near the show theatre area. We hope visitors will find this a useful service."
