Acorn Cybervillage releases RISC OS 4 E+ formatter for SCSI harddiscs

By Chris Williams. Published: 15th Jan 08:08:54 | Permalink | Printable

The Acorn Cybervillage has published a program called DiscInit, which is designed to format SCSI drives to the latest RISC OS 4+ format. Such a program has been unavailable for RISC OS and seems to be a modified version of HForm 2.52. Interesting enough, Stuart Halliday, owner of the cybervillage, received the utility anonymously..

We spoke to Stuart, regarding the effectiveness of DiscInit.
"I've given the program to several people now and they've all reported great success with it. As long as the SCSI drive is already partitioned or has a DOS format on it then it can be formatted to the latest RISC OS standard.
"I also checked the drives using DiscKnight and they all work a treat."

"The author remains anonymous because I believe he thinks RISCOS Ltd. or Partis Computering might be annoyed at him."
