Time Magazine lists ARM in Europe's Top-50 e-companies By Chris Williams. Published: 15th Jun 18:40:57 | Permalink | Printable
In this week's Time Magazine, (June 19th, 2000), ARM Holdings have been listed as one of the top 50 technology companies in Europe. Eleswhere in the special report, the magazine lists some of the hotspots for technological devlopment in Europe. The listing for Cambridge, England mentions two RISC OS-related companies as follows: 'Locals ambitiously call it Silicon Fen: 25,000 people in the area are employed by 1,200 technology-related companies, like ARM, which designs low-power, low cost chips for mobile appliances and is valued at $11 billion, and ANT, whose software simplifies the design of cell phones and appliances like handheld organisers.' Acorn may have left Cambridge some time ago but the companies it left behind are certainly becoming worldwide leaders in their own markets. Do you have a view on this?
