RiscCAD bounces back as developer rescues packageBy Chris Williams. Published: 17th Feb 22:25:10 | Permalink | Printable
Earlier this week David Buck, author of RiscCAD annouced to the RISC OS world his intention to cease development of RiscCAD. Many users, on usenet, expressed their concern over the future to the respected 2D design package. However it seems developer ProAction have stepped forward to ensure RiscCAD will continue.
ProAction are also responsible for reviving Easy C++, a compiler aimed to beginners to C++ programming.
"RiscCAD is a superb CAD program for RISC OS computer users", comments David Bradforth of Proaction. "It offers a wide variety of features, which we hope shortly to place within one of our domains. Agreement has now been reached with David Buck, the author, to take over the development and marketing and ensure that RiscCAD has a long-term RISC OS future."
RiscCAD will be priced at £49 and available through APDL. Site licence/network licence prices are yet to be decided. RiscCAD will henceforth be available on CD-ROM as a primary means of distribution. If you require floppy discs, please say so. For upgrades, original discs will have to be returned.
