Wakefield 2001 News: Travel InformationBy Chris Williams. Published: 19th Feb 10:40:38 | Permalink | Printable
In the build up to one of this year's major RISC OS shows, the organisers of Wakefield 2001 have sent Drobe the following release regarding transport details for those wishing to attend the show. Wakefield 2001 is to be held on the 19th and 20th of May at Thornes Park Athletics Stadium, Wakefield.
Most people travelling to the show by public transport from outside the area will arrive by Rail, most likely at Wakefield Westgate Station.
The station is a simple walk of approximately 3/4 mile to the show venue but, as an added service to visitors, we are for the first time, providing a free Courtesy Mini Bus service between the station and the show at Thornes Park Athletics Stadium.
With the cooperation of Great North Eastern Railway, the bus will operate from the car park directly outside the station entrance.
Exact schedules will be notified later. The aim will be to connect with GNER arrivals from London and Doncaster and Virgin Cross Country arrivals from Birmingham and the South West from around 9:30am onwards.
Later when visitors are ready to go home they can be dropped either at Westgate railway station or at the Wakefield bus/coach station. Again the aim will be to connect with principal GNER and VXC services.
Mike Wilson Publicity Officer, WACG
All the popular features of previous Wakefield shows will be repeated, including a show theatre with a full programme on both days.
