New TEK 1608 screenshots and development news

Artex Software, developers of eagerly awaited realtime strategy game TEK 1608, have uploaded further screenshots and development news of said RISC OS game.

In an email from Jan Klose of Artex, "Artex Software have released two more screenshots of the realtime strategy game 'TEK 1608' on their homepage under, together with some news about the game."

The screenshots are more than impressive and while RISC OS games players drive themselves crazy in anticipation, Artex promise to deliver. The game is being developed for other platforms, such as PCs, as well as RISC OS in probably a move by Artex to ensure enough sales to produce future games. While Drobe isn't a game orientated portal,we hope to get our hands on TEK when it is finally released.

  • Go-faster stripes for PC-format media access app
Fat32Fs, by Jeffrey Doggert, lets Iyonix users read from and write to large FAT-formatted media, such as Flash-based removable media. Drobe reader Richard Ashbery got in touch to say the software is now much faster - it can read 100MB of data off a Sandisk 4GB CF Extreme 3 card in 59 seconds and write it back in 57 seconds, showing write speeds have improved by a factor of four.
