Dutch RISC OS show called offPublished: 17th Aug 2007, 21:56:44 | Permalink | Printable
Lack of event venue to blameThe Dutch RISC OS show set to take place next month has been cancelled as its organisers were unable to secure a suitable venue. The Big Ben Club, overseeing this year's continental event, billed as a relaxed affair for enthusiasts, said it hoped to arrange a show for next year.
In a statement, Big Ben Club chairman Leo Smiers, treasurer Paul Porcelijn and secretary Jos Ulijn said: "Frustrated by the awareness that time did overtake our efforts, we now must let you know there will be no Dutch RISC OS event, planned for 22 September 2007. We failed to acquire an appropriate accommodation.
"For now there's disappointment, of course, and talk how to be more successful in an aimed 2008 event. Certainly this subject will be an item on the agenda of the Council of Representatives of the Dutch Big Ben Club, held on October 200 2007. We'll keep you posted."
The Dutch 2007 RISC OS event was expected to be a meeting of club members and RISC OS enthusiasts in a more informal and modest venue, easily reached by car, bus or rail - rather than the previous swanky Expo shows.
Meanwhile, an Arche Stammtisch event will be held in Essen, Germany, on September 2, the GAG-Clubtreffen 2007 and 39th a.u.t.o. meeting will take place at the end of next month, and back in the UK, the South East RISC OS show in Guildford on October 20.
