New TechWriter features bonus style finderPublished: 23rd Oct 2007, 20:33:20 | Permalink | Printable
Version 8.72 on its way, features surprise utilityThis is the new style finder due to be rolled into the recently announced upgrade to the TechWriter family. While version 8.72 of the word processor is on the verge of being shipped to punters, developer Martin Wuerthner revealed the software will now include, as well as a style editor, a style finder - which can quickly show users the font and appearance attributes applied to text under the caret.
A mole who has used the new functionality said the utility hovers next to documents and updates automatically as the users moves the cursor through the file. Styles revealed by the finder can be edited at the touch of a button.
The insider added: "You simply click in the document and the style finder lists those styles which are active at the caret. Clicking on the style finder's edit button allows you to edit the style in the new style editor. I think it's very intuitive and a huge leap forward."
Martin confirmed to TechWriter users today that the new version is not yet available, although it was unveiled ahead of the South East 2007 show by publisher Icon Technology. Martin added the program will be released soon and include the style finder.
He said: "Easi/TechWriter 8.72 was released at the show as planned but it is not on general release yet until [Icon's] Mike Glover has sorted out all the aftermath of the show.
"Stay tuned for the 8.7 upgrade being available in due course."
