NetSurf banner lost in post Published: 4th Dec 2007, 20:44:10 | Permalink | Printable404: /banner was not found in this letterbox.
Just weeks after CDs packed with the private information of millions of people were lost in transit comes the shock news that the NetSurf team's banner has been accidentally gobbled up by the postal system.
The 6ft wide custom printed plastic banner, gifted to the developers as a donation, was posted by programmer John-Mark Bell to fellow developers Rob Kendrick and Daniel Silverstone for the pair to use at the recent Christmas 2007 RISC OS show in Warwickshire. But the massive table-cloth sized banner, pictured above, failed to turn up at its expected destination, much to the web browser team's disappointment.
It's understood John-Mark has since filed a loss report form with the Royal Mail and helpfully attached a photo of the item to jog posties' memories.
He said: "My best guess is that they managed to detach the address label. I can think of no other rational explanation for it going AWOL."
