NetSurf banner lost in post

404: /banner was not found in this letterbox.

A pic of the banner

Just weeks after CDs packed with the private information of millions of people were lost in transit comes the shock news that the NetSurf team's banner has been accidentally gobbled up by the postal system.

The 6ft wide custom printed plastic banner, gifted to the developers as a donation, was posted by programmer John-Mark Bell to fellow developers Rob Kendrick and Daniel Silverstone for the pair to use at the recent Christmas 2007 RISC OS show in Warwickshire. But the massive table-cloth sized banner, pictured above, failed to turn up at its expected destination, much to the web browser team's disappointment.

It's understood John-Mark has since filed a loss report form with the Royal Mail and helpfully attached a photo of the item to jog posties' memories.

He said: "My best guess is that they managed to detach the address label. I can think of no other rational explanation for it going AWOL."

I hope it turns up eventually. I've had cheques from ARM Club members turn up months after they thought they had been lost in the post, but of course in the mean time they've cancelled and reissued. So don't rush out to get another one just yet, as it might re-appear for the SW show.

i rekon it has been confused again with the malware netsurf that hsbc were kicking up about a while back, it has been detected and deleted by the post services virus software. JMB should ask to check the royal mail's virus quarintine.

Perhaps the postie is a drobe reader and saw the article about Netsurf being worth millions and decided to cash in. Anyone checked eBay ;-)

Lets hope it turns up. It's a nice banner :-)

I don't think I have had any of the last 10 first class parcels I sent turn up next day....

Also the last "Next day Delivery" item I had sent to me took 7 days to arrive :(

And yet they keep trying to tell us things turn up on time.

John

At any rate, late is certainly better than never. Glad it's turned up!

Yeah, It would be a shame if it didn't. :)

I like how there's a little 404 error at the top. :)
