New driver to read and write large USB storage devices

Jeff Doggett has ported a library to create a RISC OS module that can access USB-based FAT32 storage devices greater than 2GB in size, such as memory sticks and Flash cards. Jeff said: "This is just a filing system module - there is no desktop front-end or anything user friendly. It's version 0.01 which should give you some idea that you should try it first on a test drive before letting it loose on anything valuable."

It's a real file system, so you can use files from it directly, rather than having to copy them out first. It also means you can use the filer, and save stuff back. rjek on 19/11/08 10:36AM [ Reply | Permalink | Report ]

The "no frontend" bit is quite misleading if you are not aware of the ins and outs of RISC OS filing system stuff. In the case of any FS, the RISC OS Filer is your frontend when dealing with files and directories. However, typically all FSes also give you a "drive icon" to get to the root of your medium. Jeffs FS does not do this and therefore relies on the command line to open the root filer window.
