Isn't this version of Firefox no longer updated for security fixes?

been using it for 2 hours on Iyonix with only one crash - It is the most stable version yet. It is good to be able to use Streetmap.com again without leaving RISC OS

RISC OS 5.13? When did the crash happen? I couldn't even log in to Drobe.

I've never been able to get firefox running on either my old riscpc or my current VArpc. The download just gives three files with no readme, and no matter where I put them it just does nothing when I run the app. Not much point in a 'drag and drop' system unless you know where they're to be dragged and dropped to.

Er, the download states pretty clearly that it doesn't run on RiscPCs. And it also won't run on VRPC unless it's the StrongARM version. Which one do you have?

Reply to AW (using Firefox) Crash happened in [link] soon after I clicked on a tab labelled New! Translate Looking at this page with Firefox on PC it - shows that it is full of Flash rubbish (adverts) Iyonix 5.13

That site renders fine here with (using A9home) the current version of Firefox. Even did a simple translation from English to French.

Things *render* fine using FF and RISC OS 5, and often where Netsurf fails spectacularly, but the issue is any further interaction with the site.

In reply to lym:

I used the riscpc version for the riscpc and I have virtual acorn adjustSA. I think its more a problem of what to do with the downloaded files. There's not any documentation that I've seen.

I think downloaded files are saved into <Choices$Write>

I take it you downloaded a zip file called firefox-riscpc_2.0.0.12-2.zip, opened it and found three directories inside?

Within the zip file, the file Apps/Network/!Firefox/!Help contains some instructions. I think you should be able to just drag and drop Apps/Network/!Firefox to a directory somewhere, then access the help using the filer menu.

Go to the section "I just want to run it", where it tells you about a couple of things to merge into !System before you can run the browser.

That's the best I can do without the kit to try it out myself. Please, tell us how you got on!

do you mean the choices directory inside the boot structure? Mine doesn't have a write directory inside it. Should I make one and dump them in there? I just find it odd as everyone else clearly finds it simple, else there'd be some explanation on the website. Is it just me being thick?

Do the following(hopefully this will display as a list): 1. Press F12 2. Type: Filer_Opendir <Choices$Write> 3. Press Enter x2 4. The <Choices$Write> directory will now open on screen.

Frustrating when using on a Iyonix (5.13). When I try to view the site - [link] then choose Maserati 1982 to 1998 the grey background goes black and Firefox crashes when I attempt to scroll.

Despite me having informed Peter Naulls that his FF port crashes on www.ebay.de when you type in your username for logon (just start typing the first letters) this error is still there.

To put your comment in perspective: I've seen crashes myself when Firefox autocomplete code of fill-in fields gets used but I never could pinpoint the real problem.

I'm just surprised that Chocks is still working on Acorn stuff at all. I've hardly heard anything of him since he toddled off to the US
