Thank God it's Friday night - but wait, tomorrow is the Wakefield 2009 show. Here's your quick round-up of what's going to happen on Saturday that hasn't yet been reported on Drobe.

* NetSurf 2.0 will be unveiled - click here for the features list. Some of the core programming team will be present at the event.

* Sine Nomine Software will have plenty of updated software: Impact, DrawPrint and SuperDoku - plus new app House of Cards.

* Drobe writer Martin Hansen will give a keynote talk in the theatre presentations on the development of his RISC OS software and will give away CDs of his new sliding puzzle game (see screenshot below) and Flicker, his new and straightforward animation package.

Speaking of presentations, ROOL's Steve Revill will talk about his 7th Software outfit, Paul Middleton will hopefully talk about RISC OS 6.16, new scientific analysis software LuaFox will be unveiled, Martin Wuerthner will show off ArtWorks 2.9, the ROOL crew will give an update on what's been happening with the shared source project, editor John Cartmell will speak about Qercus magazine and Drobe writer Paul Stewart will demonstrate his Puppy Linux build with RPCEmu.

* CJE Micros will have two software upgrades including Tablemate. Punters should bring their original 'mate discs.

* Joel Rowbottom will demonstrate of one of the four surviving original Domesday Project setups with the Master AIV and a full set of discs. He will also have a small Econet network setup and hopefully a couple of multi-user games/systems to play with alongside some of the classic BBC Micro games if anyone fancies a go at Chuckie Egg or Elite. A stand setup by the Centre of Computing History will also be present.

* Steve Potts will demonstrate an updated version of his VNC server front-end application, which was previewed at the recent North West User Group meeting.

* The show's charity stall will raise money for the Wakefield Hospice by selling off old kit. There will also be a collection point for ink and toner cartridges to recycle as well as worn-out mobile phones.

* And will Drobe be proved right that the Vpod, pre-announced by Stuart Tyrrell Developments, will be a new graphics card for RISC OS on a podule - or will we be utterly humiliated by being way off-base? Find out in a few hours' time.

Also there's a whisper there'll be RISC OS running on the Cortex A8-powered BeagleBoard: https://www.riscosopen.org/forum/forums/5/topics/166?page=4

NetSurf 2.0: congratulations to the NS team for an excellent upgrade! I've been downloading development builds every month or so for a while now, but the latest release pulls it all nicely together and the result is a very slick general-purpose browser which is a big step forward compared to 1.0 and, along with developments like the A8-Cortex port, does much to sustain my hopes for the platform in the future. So well done, keep up the good work!
