New London RISC OS show to be held in October

Published: 31st May 2009, 18:57:23 | Permalink | Printable

More details to follow. It is understood this is to replace the annual South East RISC OS show, which is usually held in Guildford but will not take place this year as the venue that hosts the event is unavailable. Freeware developers are invited to exhibit their work for free at the London show. To book a space or for more information, email the organisers.

Nice to see the show back in London. Looks like it will be good for transport links, and cheaper hotel room prices than Wakefield, if you book in advance!

OK - I see it's on the 3rd October 2009. Oh goodie - I can make that date.

It's excellent news that ROUGOL have stepped in with a replacement show.

My understanding, from John Sawyer, was that the Guildford venue had become too expensive.

The show last year also came at the same time as the announcement that Castle would not be produsing an Iyonix II which, if you are organising a show, is not a helpful backdrop.

I wish the organisers luck in finding a reasonably priced but accessible venue.

I like the fact that they are calling it the *LONDON* show. A bit of good marketing there, I thought.

Regards, Martin.

(winking) Knowing Londoners, we should be glad it isn't called the "British Show" or "Whole of UK show" cos you know there's just empty space north of the watford gap...

I know a lot of mancunians who would make that joke; in fact I heard a similar one just yesterday. It's bizarre; perhaps they feel persecuted where there is no persecution.

Why do you think the BBC produce wildlife programs? To let londoners know that there is a world out there!

Ways to determine the start and end of North and South in England: 1. Ask a Northerner where the South starts, and a Southerner where the North starts. The overlap is the Midlands 2. Ask a Midlander (o:

Some of us like to call the bit below that line the Midlands.

" Why do you think the BBC produce wildlife programs? To let londoners know that there is a world out there! "

That's what I replied to. This system needs a "quote" option!

To my friends and RISC OS owners on Orkney, we're all land-lubbin southerners. But somehow I doubt they'll make it to the show. Mind you, I remember them at the first Epsom show...

My WSP are in Reykjavik, from where everywhere else is the South. I have learned not to grumble about the weather with them.

It's nice to see photos of the locality popping up: The explanatory view from the railway station is very helpful.

Will there be banners/posters available for download? Or maybe just a Draw version of the roundel and preferred fontname?
