ArgoNet gains a new lease of lifePublished: 12th Apr 23:00:44 | Permalink | Printable
ArgoNet, the internet service provider who once prided themselves on supporting RISC OS users has today been given a new lease of life according to an announcement from its parent company, ArgoGroup.
It appears that ArgoNet has been split in two and renamed Freedom2 and Passport2Learn providing for the needs of dial up and education users respectively. Confusingly, Passport2Learn is a subdivision of Freedom2 and already claims to have around 30 schools using its services.
In the obligatory spiel that follows such announcements, David Frodsham, CEO of ArgoGroup Ltd. said, "We are positioning ArgoGroup to continue our domination of the need for device intelligence by the wireless Internet Industry. With the recent acquisition of AnywhereYouGo.com and the spin out of Freedom2, we have taken two large and decisive steps toward this goal."
Regardless of what this is supposed to translate into, it can only be good news for the ISP which has suffered a lack of investment from its parent company and recurring technical problems in recent months.
Matt Gray, previously of ArgoNetís technical support team, has been appointed as Managing Director of Freedom2 and will take over the ArgoGroup offices in Chichester.
Drobe.co.uk wishes Matt the best of luck with his new appointment and we look forward to hearing more detailed plans about the rumoured improvements which are being planned for Argoís current RISC OS users.
