Richard Brown - IT consultant, friend of Castle and best-known for overseeing sales and support of RISC OS browser Oregano 2 and the demise of Oregano 3 - will take over the day-to-day running of the late Paul Vigay's ISP, Orpheus Internet. Richard has also joined the company's board of directors.

Richard has been a long standing friend of Paul, general nice bloke, and is an ideal man for the job. I wish him the best success. Any help I can provide is still available.

I'm sure Richard is very well placed to take over running Orpheus, regular customers should be reassured by this move. Along with Rob, I offer my best wishes and hope to continue to work closely with him in the months to come.

As a customer of Orpheus, I find the above reassuring. I have been with them for over a year and really rate them as an excellent ISP.

Perhaps it's a cost saving - the drobe hosted riscos.org.uk is still working

There is no connection between .org and .org.uk domain names.

riscos.org is not gone, it's just offline, registered until 2015: [link]

vigay.com Still there though - a useful resource - has it been archived?

"overseeing sales and support of RISC OS browser Oregano 2 and the demise of Oregano 3"

How long does Orpheus have then?

Orpheus is different; it has enough customers to make it worthwhile running. Oregano 3's problems were that there simply isn't the marker for a hundred quid web browser anymore.

I think that last comment a bit unfair. I never thought that Richard had much control with Oregano 3, and did put in a lot of money, before calling it a day. RISC OS users were never going to be willing to pay the sort of sums needed for break even on the project. With Orpheus he has a solid user base, and a good basic product (if a bit pricey by todays standards, but then how many ISPs offer email, webspace, newsgroups, and uncapped usage? I wish Richard the best of luck.

I'm sure everybody who needs to know (family, close friends) does.

The things I've heard about this subject are all the sort of things you instinctively treat in confidence, and certainly not the sort of things you post on forums or any or public means.

So it's consideration, not conspiracy. (With apologies for using the word "conspiracy"; synomyns don't scan.)
