Chuckie Egg returns for RISC OS: 8 bit nostalgia

By Chris Williams. Published: 27th Apr 23:30:31 | Permalink | Printable

It seems Micheal Foot has done it again. At the turn of this month drobe.co.uk reported on Michael's efforts of bringing old BBC B games back to RISC OS. The RISC OS games newsgroup has already voiced its appreciation of Michael's work and long may the nostalgia continue.

Chuckie Egg

Now Chuckie Egg, the 8 bit platform favourite originally from A & F Software, has been converted and now available online from Michael's website.

"Chuckie Egg has been converted to RISC OS directly from the BBC game of the same name", explains Michael in his usenet announcement. "The conversion process takes the original BBC game code and converts each processor instruction to a comparable routine under RISC OS. This means that instead of having to rewrite the game from scratch and trying to get everything the same, I now have an exact conversion that looks, plays and feels the same as the original."
