Peter Naulls' wild cat Lynx suceeds where Oregano fails By Chris Williams. Published: 8th Sep 2001, 23:14:22 | Permalink | PrintableJust where have the drobe editors gone off to? Developing portal software and a C development aid sounds nice doesn't it? After itching to get back into running everybody's favourite news portal, it's a little disappointing to find that a certain popular and otherwise normally excellent web browser has difficulty in allowing editors to log into the drobe.co.uk admin area.
So while our web development department works around the clock to sort something out, this intrepid editor decided to go where no other RISC OS editor has dared go and use Lynx, a browser ported from unix to RISC OS by Peter 'I've ported a few programs' Naulls.
It's a text based browser that is extremely fast. It handles cookies, web forms, HTML, the works. Right I'm off to finish our independant RISC OS Select preview as well as ensuring our usual high quality news coverage returns as quickly as possible. I also haven't forgotten about the news I promised I would publish.
Lynx: chocky.org/unix
(Uses the excellent Nettle from sourceforge.net
We'll of course do a more indepth article about the Nettle team's work, Lynx and Peter's other unix ports. Stay tuned and we promise not to let myriscos.co.uk get too big for their boots ;p
