Alligata will deliver news to your email doorstop. Extra extra!drobe.co.uk is, as you know, a news service for RISC OS users and one we enjoy writing for. In our opinion we reckon we're great, however (and this may shock you) did you know that there are other online RISC OS news organisations? Yes really. Launched this week (for the second time this year) is the Alligata Newsletter, brought to you by the same people publishing RISC Domain. Hot on the heels of the email based ANS, Alligata news was hyped up in a comp.sys.acorn.announce posting as being free and "sent direct to your email on a monthly basis."
"Within each newsletter, you'll find details of the latest developments in the Acorn world, snippets of feature lists from the latest issues of RISC Domain and RISC World [possibly], special information on goodies available soon and a stack more goodies", enthuses Dave Bradforth of RISC OS software publishers Proaction. "We'll keep the advertising to a minimum, and your email address will not be forwarded on to anybody else!"
Those are brave words considering when drobe contacted Proaction earlier in the year regarding their recently launched RISC Domain magazine, their thoughts on their magazine ranged from "It's brilliant" to "The Editor is the smartest guy in the world, who never has any trouble with women". We are obviously looking forward to their online news service.
The mailing list system went live 7pm last night and to subscribe send an email@example.com with the subject 'subscribe maillist'. Press releases and news should be directed towards firstname.lastname@example.org.
