ITC-UK: We have Reflex's Acorn spares stocksPublished: 1st Nov 2001, 20:44:41 | Permalink | Printable
Picking up from where Reflex Electronics left off, drobe.co.uk speaks with repairers ITC-UKReflex Electronics were best known to RISC OS users for their popular repairs'n'spares services. For many years, Reflex had been lifesavers for RISC OS users with poorly machines. Unfortunately, earlier this year (as reported by iconbar.com), Reflex Electronics closed its doors, creating fears of users being unable to repair or source spares for existing RISC OS machines.
However, you'll be pleased to know that company ITC-UK has picked up where Reflex left off and is aiming to provide spares and repairs for Acorn machines. ITC-UK have actually been trading for 2 years now and were at RISC OS 2001 with tables stacked high with parts and upgrades. This week drobe.co.uk got in touch with them to hear their story.
"ITC have purchased the entire Reflex stock in order to continue supply of
Acorn parts", ITC's Chris Lumley assured drobe.co.uk. Incidentally Chris' father was Reflex's Operations Director and also founded Reflex Electronics after working for 9 years at Acorn.
"The services of all the key engineering staff have been retained to maintain a reliable repair service. The only changes to this are the repair of monitors which because of falling prices are rapidly becoming a throw away part."
Chris also adds that it's ITC's intention to attend all RISC OS shows to reassure users and spread the word about ITC. Currently, while ITC-UK continues to grow, payments to ITC can only be made in cash or cheque and the company can be contacted via the following channels:
Fax/phone 01480 382457 (expect an answerphone)
We wish them the best of luck.
