Get your gallery onlineBy Chris Williams. Published: 14th May 2002, 06:16:58 | Permalink | Printable
If in doubt, get an automated tool to do the hard work for you. Imagine, if you will, that you've been to a party or a wedding and you've taken a load of photos using that new digital camera you got for Christmas. How would you go about sorting it out so you can put them online for the world to gawp at? This is where you need Dave Stratford's recently updated Web_Gen. Dave's software turns a directory of image files into a HTML gallery, suitable for uploading to website for public viewing. Web_Gen can present the images in several forms:
- A site consisting of a single index page containing thumbnails only.
- A site consisting of a single index page containing thumbnails, each of which links to a separate page containing a larger version of that image. Captions can be attached to each thumbnail.
For those of you who don't know, a thumbnail is a scaled down version of a larger image, so you can preview the larger image without having to download it.
