RISC OS softwear competition

Design the next RISC OS t-shirt, sweatshirt or mousemat with riscos.org

Imagine this scene if you will: you're at the biggest RISC OS show of the year, you're surrounded by fellow users and stands packed with goodies. You, however, feel the need to stand out from the crowd and show off your fondness for RISC OS. The thought of something provocative like a Microsoft hat doesn't quite cut it, instead you'd prefer something akin to those old Clan Acorn t-shirts. What you need is a riscos.org t-shirt. Oh yes.

Of course, you'll need to design one first and that basically sums up the "Can you design a Tshirt or a mousemat?" competition set by Ian Karley of the riscos.org portal.

"This is chance for all you budding artists to get creative and do your bit to help publicise the platform", explains Ian on the website. "Winners will receive the finished product plus any other prizes donated by companies. The Tshirt / Sweatshirt design should be a simple, clear, positive portrayal of RISC OS and include both the new cog logo, "RISC OS" and "RISCOS.org". It should be understandable at a distance and not demean anyone or anything. (No windows bashing!) The design for each side should be no larger than A3 size. Alternatively if you want to design a mousemat. The design needs to fit a mat 24x21 cm and allow for the obligatory rounded corners. The only requirement is the design has to be a polite promotional RISC OS theme."

The competition was first announced on riscos.org at the start of May and Ian has this week decided to delay the submission deadline to 1st September.

"Did you intend to enter our competition and didn't quite get round to finishing your entry?", writes Ian in his latest call for entries. "I know there are many artists who use RISC OS machines, both amateur and professional, so we have no excuse not to produce a fine selection of entries. It is also a good way to advertise your skills!"

Image Software has donated their Money Manager 2002 software as a prize, other prizes are awaiting confirmation. drobe.co.uk assumes that the designed products will be sold to RISC OS users, with profits going to a chosen charity. Good luck to anyone entering the competition.

The designs better be good because I want one to replace my aging Clan clothes and those old Acorn ones I got off eBay. Oh I do have normal clothes honest. I'm not really obsessive.

Ian could organise a wet T-shirt competition at the next RISC OS show (to promote the winning design, of course).
