New Announce Moderator

Nick Boalch joins comp.sys.acorn.announce team

Yesterday, a new back up moderator for the usenet group comp.sys.acorn.announce was announced as comp.sys.acorn.* usenet regular Nick Boalch. Drobe.co.uk wishes him the best of luck in his new role as his joins other moderators, Stuart Marshall and Andrew Conroy.

The comp.sys.acorn.announce group is a moderated group which means your articles need to be approved by a moderator in order to be posted and read by all. This moderation process therefore causes a delay between the article being submitted and it actually appearing on usenet. This new appointment is hoped to ease the pressure on the other moderators and thus speed up the distribution of RISC OS news.

The actual comp.sys.acorn.announce group lies at the heart of the online RISC OS community as a valued news source. All the major RISC OS developers and companies usually post their news and updates to the group first, some even cc'ing press releases. As new moderator, Nick Boalch is also expected to create a new c.s.a.a website.

"I am pleased to announce that after considerable delay, we have at last appointed an additional Backup Moderator for comp.sys.acorn.announce", states Andrew of the announce team. "I'd like to thank everyone who expressed an interest in the post, we received far more replies than we were expecting, something which was very pleasing. The decision was a hard one as everyone had very impressive 'qualifications'."

Usenet is a huge collection of groups that people can post messages to and read. You can find more information about the RISC OS related groups here.
