Nattering away online

Hooray for yet another online chat client Updated

RISC OS users are now spoilt for choice. IRC, MSN or ICQ, whatever method of instant online communication that tickles your fancy, there'll be a client for you. If drobe.co.uk made a quid for every client we reported on, we could probably afford something inexpensive.

Down to business, Russell Palmer has released this week his promised Natter software, billed as the "RISC OS instant messaging solution". As announced first on iconbar.com, Natter boasts many features including MSN and ICQ support. Natter is a shareware application.

This release went ahead despite a pre-release copy being leaked earlier this week on a certain RISC OS website.

Update
Drobe.co.uk got in touch with Natter author, Russell Palmer, regarding his software release. At the time of writing, Russell did admit that some pages on the Natter website are out of date but this is will be corrected over the next day or two.
"...The next stages of development will focus on vastly improving the existing protocols - ICQ lacks many features, MSN will get file transfer capabilities, and I'll be adding groups support to both of them", then explained Russell to drobe.co.uk. "I am relatively happy with the interface as it stands so this will not see many changes for a while; sound effects and pop-up windows should get a look in soon though."

From what I recall, it looked ok in Oregano and IE6 handles it well. Anyway, still a nice website.
