Viewfinder: Get them while they're hot

By Chris Williams. Published: 28th Oct 2002, 20:21:49 | Permalink | Printable

And cheap too

ViewFinder's a firm favourite here at drobe, featuring several times including back in January when we discussed the ViewFinder upgrade.

As a special offer, John Kortink has reduced the price of ViewFinder from its normal 360 Euro (around 227UKP) to 240 Euro (around 150UKP). It sounds like a bargain indeed.

Well, we know that new machines are coming out, but it's unlikely that people buying them when they do become available (and at time of writing, no dates have been announced), will be disposing of their RiscPCs, or that everyone will immediately be able to afford such machines. ViewFinder remains one of the best upgrades ever for RiscPCs. At this price, you could even afford two.

More information can be found on the Windfall site

At that price, I might have to starve for a week - or maybe that's just a student thing. :)

Using RISC OS when no one else is in the entire university is pretty good going. :) All my pennies are going in the jam jar on my desk labelled "Iyonix"

What I've always wanted is a ~30 in coppers, so I can walk into a bank and get it changed for a note. :p

They do 30 pound notes now? ;o)

Serious part of the comment now - does this mean that the VF cards will be assured to work under RISC OS 4.32 and that bugfixes/upgrades will be offered again? -- Simon Wilson, Boulder, Colorado

I think that's a question you'd really have to ask John Kortink.

No need really - according to Windfall's advertisment, i.e. the web-site, "Viewfinder is compatible will all known versions of RISC OS...including...Select". Oh - and software updates are regularly released. And bug fixes - e.g. doesn't work with an OS it is advertised as compatible with? - are released free-of-charge to existing users. So nothing to worry about!
