"..thanks to you all for expressing an interest in Aemulor", the bulletin starts. "Don't worry, we're not going to be bombarding your inbox with masses of email - just when we think we've got something significant to tell you!"
Aemulor developers Spellings.net are just itching to tell us that the Aemulor website is now fully functional with an FAQ, forums and screenshots of 26 bit apps Zap, StrongEd, Artworks and Impression running on a 32 bit Iyonix using Aemulor. You'll see that each emulated application runs as normal whilst Aemulor sits quietly on the left hand side of the iconbar. This is great as the whole emulation process appears to be transparent to the user; you'd never know that you were running software that was incompatible with your OS and hardware. Speaking of the website, the Aemulor team states, "This will also be the primary source for purchasing the release version of Aemulor, which will be available for electronic distribution to minimise paper and packaging waste."
Impressively, the emulator has also been re-written entirely in XScale optimised ARM assembler after being previously developed in C. The C version was on show at the recent South East show. Aemulor are confident that they have developed many tricks and techniques to utterly optmise their emulation software in order to squeeze the last drops of speed out of the engine, there's also a development diary on the website's support forum for anyone tracking their progress. RISC OS' premier software packages Artworks, AWViewer, Impression Publisher, Impression Style, Photodesk and Topmodel are all known to work under emulation.
Aemulor.com will be at the Midlands show this month with an Iyonix demonstrating the 26 bit emulator.
