Simtec issues USB stack 1.2 By Chris Williams. Published: 26th Nov 2002, 23:50:24 | Permalink | PrintableThey like to think it's their best release yet  Simtec Electronics, developers of a USB solution for RISC OS, released yesterday version 1.2 of their USB stack which apparently includes several updates and bugs fixes. Simtec appear confident that this release of their stack is their best yet, enabling their USB hardware to support the following device classes:
- Full hub support complete with power and bandwidth management
- "Human Interface Devices" such as keyboards and mice
- Printers: Printer definition files are available for numerous printers including nearly all HP printers.
- Mass storage: Several third party developers will introducing mass storage drivers for a selection of devices soon.
Simtec have been producing upgrades for RISC OS machines for over ten years now and are the electronic engineers behind the RiscStation computers and the NET100 100MBit network card, amongst other things.
"In addition to these class drivers there is now support for Epson scanners with Dave Pillings TWAIN drivers, cameras from Photodesk and joysticks from STDevl and even DLink USB radio (included with stack)", the Simtec press release sent to drobe.co.uk comments. "Ongoing development in numerous areas ensures that several more new products will soon be available."
