Show time for Unix Ports

By Chris Williams. Published: 28th Nov 2002, 18:20:09 | Permalink | Printable

The Midlands RISC OS Show is fast approaching and so's the event hype

The Midlands RISC OS show this Saturday is going to see the usual familiar faces exhibiting their wares, notably R-Comp, Castle, MW Software, CJE/4thDim, Icon Technology, Surftec, Kudlian Software,ITC, Acorn Publisher, Acorn User, Archive, Photodesk, Soft Rock Software, Zenta, Cerilica, RISCOS Ltd, Fortran friends, APDL, Virtual Acorn, AAUG, Aemulor, the Unix Porting Project and (here's a surprise) drobe.co.uk. We'll have more hype, sorry information, later on what we'll be up to.

Anyway, this article does have a point. As announced in email sent to drobe.co.uk, the Unix Porting Project will be attending the show, when you do see them remember to tell them that drobe.co.uk sent you. Also, to coincide with the event, the UPP website has been treated to a layout overhaul to increase clarity and accessibility. The downloads page is now automatically generated and features descriptions and notes on usage.

"The Unix Porting Project's aim is to improve RISC OS by converting programs from a selection of thousands of available for Unix", Peter Naulls of the UPP explains. "The programs to be converted are chosen by subscribers."

If you're exhibiting at the show, feel free to email us with details on what you'll be up to.

Indeed. If you want these ported, you'll need to be a subscriber. (That is, if you can't find someone else to do it)
