R-Comp stuff version 1.10 of their network printing app in users' stockings

In an email from R-Comp this week, drobe.co.uk was enthusiastically informed that the network printing package UniPrint has reached version 1.10; the new version bearing the following features (at least according to R-Comp of course):

  • It's now up to five times faster than before, especially for colour printing
  • The MS Windows side of the software has had a face lift and given a better user interface. You may excuse the contradictory terms, "Windows" and "user interface".

Software publishers and developers R-Comp say in their announcement that this is a "major update" and the new version was emailed to users this week. R-Comp enjoy using email to distribute updates and stuff to customers - this is certainly the case for their web browser WebsterXL and chat app Grapevine.

UniPrint allows you to print to a printer connected to a Windows PC via your local network from your RISC OS machine. This allows you to use the Windows drivers to enable the RISC OS machine to use the printer and works by converting documents into high resolution bitmaps for the Windows machine and printer to deal with.
