How to get your favourite old games running on your newer hardware

A mini-HOWTO

Here's the winning entry in our recent comeptition, by Alex Macfarlane Smith; Alex discusses a common issue with RISC OS games, and other applications - updating them by patching to ensure compatibility with newer OSes and hardware.

As is typical with Drobe articles, we will be annotating the article entries with links and images, and making minor changes for readability.

One of the long running concerns about newer versions of the OS/hardware is that a lot of the older games won't run on the new machines. This document attempts to at least give you some information on how to go about updating games to work on newer versions of the OS/CPU (at least as far as RISC OS 4 / StrongARM).
