UPP shares porting toolsBy Chris Williams. Published: 28th Jan 2003, 20:53:50 | Permalink | Printable
Sign up and be a serial porterThere's an awful lot of open source software out there, good software with the potential to be ported to everybody's favourite platform, RISC OS. Currently, Peter Naulls' Unix Porting Project is an essential source for ported software and also runs a subscription scheme that we've bestowed due coverage in the past. You may think that porting applications from one platform to another is all rather daunting but it doesn't have to be when you've got the right kit at your fingertips.
As part of the Unix Porting Project, Peter is now offering a developer subscription that would enable you to gain access to the tools Peter has developed in order to aid his own porting activities. You will need, we're told, a working copy of the GCCSDK to take advantage of these tools.
"A number of people have shown interest in a 'Porting Environment' which was discussed during development of the ideas for this project", Peter explains on his website. "This is now available in the form of various tools, along with support for its use."
For more details, you'll need to see the links below.
