RISC OS Expo 2003 revealed By Chris Williams. Published: 28th Feb 2003, 23:47:33 | Permalink | PrintableDateline Holland - Getting ready for June 2003 event It would appear the main land European quarter of the RISC OS user base is partially dominating the Drobe headlines this weekend, which is pretty exciting. You have to remember that RISC OS is used all over the world from the USA to Germany to New Zealand and back again; it's always personally annoyed me when people claim RISC OS is a British OS - it's an international OS, we think you'll find. Enough politics.
RISC OS Expo 2003
The long running Dutch Big Ben Club has confirmed that it is holding its annual and national RISC OS event in Nieuwegein, Holland in June this year. The show attracts German, Dutch and British companies and has proven in the past to be a fairly large, positive affair; this is judging by mentat's otherwise alcohol preoccupied Expo 2002 review and Matt Cook's Expo 2002 photo gallery.
Ok, June's a long way off at the moment but we suspect preparations are in full swing and we'll remind you again as the event draws near. Here's the event details Big Ben Club webmaster Matt Hendriks was keen to tell to drobe.co.uk:
| Date | Saturday, June 21nd, 2003 | | Where | Expohall, Hotel Mercure Buizerdlaan 10, Nieuwegein(near the city of Utrecht). A first class location, with restaurant, parking garage (free) and rooms for the night. | | From | 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. |
"The show is an excellent opportunity for you to meet the RiscOS/Acorn enthusiasts at the Continent and to promote your company and products", Matt comments in his email, speaking on behalf of the event organising committee. Sounds like an excellent excuse, er, justification for a trip to Europe.

Prototype affordable Braille display in development A low-cost computer-controlled Braille board has been prototyped by a RISC OS-using university student. Undergraduate Edward Rogers hopes to sell his completed units for as little as 200 quid each to schools and families to allow more blind children to continue learning Braille. And he said he wanted to launch his venture using RISC OS-powered kit before offering a package for other platforms.
