Comp.Sys.Acorn.Announce loses owlart.co.uk domain

It's update-your-bookmarks-time again

Andrew Conroy has informed us today that the official comp.sys.acorn.announce website is pulling up anchors and setting sail to the new domain owlart.net following a reported messy mix up of ownership of the current owlart.co.uk domain.

As chief moderator of csa.announce, the moderated news group for RISC OS only press releases and announcements, Andrew told us today via email that the ownership of his owlart.co.uk domain has been apparently registered to the wrong organisation and despite possessing the necessary paperwork, Andrew's battling to get it back (compare his address to the one registered with owlart.co.uk). Andrew is hoping to get his domain back in a few months time but expects the owlart.co.uk website to cease working at the end of this month.

Prompted by this extraordinary suituation, Andrew's moving csa.announce related stuff over to the owlart.net address, which isn't live at the moment but will soon be and will stay that way. To submit an article for csa.announce, you need to email csaa@owlart.net (don't forget to cc us a copy too). Alternatively to send general correspondance, email csaa-request@owlart.net.

Also whilst on the subject of comp.sys.acorn.announce, backup moderator Nick Boalch has today declared that he is "moving away from RISC OS completely".

It's a sod when the bully boys do that. First St. Pilling had to change the name of his Im@g3M@st3r software due to some company. Now OwlArt (which has been around in the RISC OS scene for I think 3 years now - if not longer) has to do this.

I'd ask nominet before changing it.

owlart.net was offline for a bit as the server was getting a new PSU and kernel.

We have already gone through the #$!* with Nominet, who are totally unhelpful unless you fancy paying them to "mediate".

Owl-Art has been around longer than that, with the first real product being the UK distribution of Bubble Impact in 1998. The owlart.co.uk domain has been around for about 3 years though.
