Bag a free yearly Acorn User sub

By Chris Williams. Published: 13th Apr 2003, 15:56:05 | Permalink | Printable

Don't thank us, thank Tau Press

Acorn User magazine have meekly opened a competition this week where you can try and win a year's subscription to their publication. We say meekly because there's no Announce post nor a PR email to the various RISC OS editors (as far as we can tell). Instead AU editor Rob Donaldson's promotion was found tucked snugly away in the Misc group and we can only assume publicity was not on the agenda when they came up with this particular stunt.

"Celebrating the exciting future of RISC OS and another great year for Acorn User", writes Rob in his announcement today, signalling that the first three months of 2003 were just a warm up, Bill Bailey style. "Its publisher, Tau Press, are delighted to be able to offer the chance to win a free year's subscription to Acorn User."

The plan is, drop an email to Rob answering the question: 'In which year was Acorn User launched?'. Your options are a) 1981, b) 1982 or c) 1983 but sadly no d) 2003. There's no mention of how the winner will be picked, how we'll find out who the winner is, when the winner will be picked, details of the subs up for grabs nor any other terms and conditions except that the closing date is the 24th April 2003. We've dropped Rob an email so we'll keep up updated if we learn of anything.

And good luck.

Can't be arsed with your obsessive comments slagging off Acorn User at every chance for the last 3 years.

chocky : if somethings worth doing, it's worth doing properly. If only AU knew that simple fact.

Oh well.

Hmm, how about a RISC OS computer then?

What is the point of slagging Acorn User off for 3 years. Acorn User, however much it may resemble toilet roll, is still a valuable asset to the market and it's role will undoubtley substanciate if the new machines take off.

3 years is a long time to hold a grudge. Sounds like it was a very very heavy divorce settlement. -- Snig Undoubtley doubtful.

Noddy's just pissed cos they realised he was crap and dumped him.

It's unfortunate that the online community cannot do the same.

So, as we see, Noddy continues to demonstrate he's completely unable to shut up when any aspect of AU arises.

And you've missed the bleein' obvious irony that everyone else has spotted, so I'll have to spell it out for you: "if somethings (sic) worth doing, it's worth doing properly." - what a shame you screw up so much of what you do - but then, you've never had a problem with hypocrisy.

Finally, it's nice to see you continue your traditional of refuting someone's point by simply saying they're wrong, and not offering any explanation. Don't worry, no one's convinced.

chocky : I've taken lessons from the master here - that master is the person I'm replying to here.

Just in case you've missed that, I'll do it properly, cos it's worth doing that way - not that you'd know about that sometimes.

I'm refutting the point made by imj as he has put nothing forward to substantiate the allegation. Oh dear. That may have passed you by. Sorry, it's this high level organism talk, it must confuse you sometimes. Go have a lay down in a darkened room, grow a personality and perhaps come back a bit later.

Sorry, I can't understand you.

But don't bother replying. No-one wants to see your replies. Stop talking the utter rubbish you do every single day and go get a clue.

tak : I have plenty of clues. If you can't understand what I said, then perhaps reading what I said may help.

You wrote that, and it makes no sense whatsoever. Please read what you write before posting.
