Iyonix plug'n'play USB printing By Chris Williams. Published: 17th Apr 2003, 20:42:59 | Permalink | PrintableIntroducing Printers 1.67 We've learnt today that Castle yesterday issued version 1.67 of Printers, the RISC OS printing application, to Iyonix users which now supports plug-in-and-play USB support. Simon Wilson provided us with some screenshots as you'll see below - cheers Simon, we may owe you a 'Launchpad t-shirt or something.
 "I see you've plugged in a printer"
"After loading Printers, you plug in your USB printer and a window pops up asking to identify a PDF [RISC OS printer definition file] to use with the printer", writes Simon, an Iyonix user. All that's needed next is picking a printer definition file and dragging it to the new printer. Castle's USB printing seems to be welcomingly easier and more straight forward than the more manual method required on RISC OS 4 systems. There's also quick access to the necessary PDFs from the Printers iconbar menu.
We'd be interested to find out how many USB printers are supported now under Printers 1.67 and just how fast it is.
